EcoLogic has extensive experience with providing a full range of wildlife surveys, reporting and assessment for all your planning, development and conservation requirements.
We provide suitably qualified ecological consultant/s to undertake surveys, all of whom satisfy the necessary competencies specified by the governing body of the Chartered Institute for Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) and are covered by the CIEEM code of conduct.

IAN CROWE - MCIEEM
Ian has been a full Member of the Institute of Ecological and Environmental Management since 2002 and a Chartered Environmentalist since 2005. He holds an honours degree in agricultural science and a post graduate diploma in nature conservation management. Ian spent ten years working for nature conservation organisations, mainly in County Wildlife Trusts, where he worked with the development planning system as a Senior Conservation Officer and manager, and with habitat management as Nature Reserves Manager for Devon Wildlife Trust. For a further ten years Ian worked as an independent consultant ecologist forming EcoLogic Consultants in 2011.
Ian's main areas of expertise are in habitat management and creation, and bat survey and ecology. Ian holds Natural England survey licences for Great Crested Newt, Bats, (Registered Consultant for the Bat Low Impact Class Licence) Dormouse, and Barn Owl and has obtained several licenses for work affecting Badgers. Ian has a small farm in East Devon of 130 acres of mainly species rich grassland, which he manages for nature conservation using his herd of pedigree Ruby Red Devon.

ANDREW CHARLES - MCIEEM
Andrew Charles has been a professional ecological consultant since 2004, working for national and regional consultancy firms, as an employee and director, before becoming a partner with EcoLogic in 2015. Andrew has a BSc(Hons) Environmental Biology and an MSc. Habitat Creation & Management, and became a full Member of the Chartered Institute of Ecological and Environmental Management in 2006.
Andrew has a breadth of experience including varied development projects, such as housing, industrial, leisure/tourism, mineral extraction, road schemes, renewable energies etc, and he specialises in habitat and species specific surveys and impact assessment. Andrew holds species survey license for bats, great crested newts, dormice & barn owl, and has held development licenses relating to numerous bat roosts and badger setts.

GEORGE GREENSHIELDS - MCIEEM
George is a full member of the Chartered Institute of Ecological And Environmental Management and holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Biology and an MSc in Environmental Technology.
After his masters George held a research post at Imperial College London, specialising in the interpretation of satellite imagery, and then became the first FWAG officer (Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group) for Dorset. George comes from a farming family and runs his own small farm in Devon which supports a herd of pedigree Red Devon cattle grazing on species rich pasture.
A founder member of Ecologic in 2011 George holds Natural England licences for Great Crested Newt, Bats and Dormouse. George's main area of expertise is in habitat management and creation with particular reference to the farmed environment. He is a specialist in conservation grazing, Higher Level Stewardship and Countryside Stewardship.
For the last ten years George has worked closely with private land owners, Natural England, Local Government, The National Trust and Historic England to implement management plans on many Scheduled Monuments, SSSIs and common land.

LUKE GIBBONS
Luke joined Ecologic in November 2015, prior to which he had spent three years working with a consultancy in Devon as an assistant ecologist.
Luke’s responsibilities include extended Phase 1 habitat surveys, Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and protected species surveys for great crested newt, reptiles, bats and dormice. Luke holds Natural England survey Licences for bats, dormice and barn owl and is working towards his Natural England survey licence for great crested newt and his harp trap/mist net and ringing licenses for bats. He has a good understanding of protected species ecology and is further developing his knowledge and application of ecological policy, wildlife licensing and legislation.
Luke graduated from the University of Swansea with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics but through his own extra curricula love of the natural world began to forge a career path in ecology. He is now undertaking a part time Masters degree in Biological Recording at Manchester Metropolitan University where he will benefit from Field Study Council (FSC) experts tuition.
Luke is a Qualifying member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management and hopes to progress to associate/full membership in the foreseeable future.
